  • Ensure process engineering deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with applicable codes and standards.
  • Lead, develop, and optimize process design from project inception through design completion, start-up, and commissioning support.
  • Support feasibility, conceptual design, pre-FEED, debottlenecking, and cost estimate development.
  • Develop and review Process Design Criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, process simulations, calculations, heat and mass balances, process narratives, control narratives, and shutdown keys.
  • Participate in HAZIDs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and other safety reviews.
  • Provide process engineering input into DBMs, cost estimates, schedules, engineered drawings, equipment sizing, specifications, datasheets, RFQs, EWPs, bid evaluations, and award recommendations.

  • Lead technical mentoring, team development, performance input, and support for employees and contractors.
  • Oversee quality control within the Process Engineering department.
  • Ensure deliverables meet technical, safety, regulatory, QA/QC, and client requirements.

Core Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of conventional oil and gas processing, SAGD well pads, central processing facilities, thermal projects, heavy oil pipelines, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of process engineering codes, standards, engineering practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with process calculations, simulations, and process engineering tools such as HYSYS, Symmetry, or similar software.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary project work in a fast-paced EPCM environment.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and sound technical judgement.
  • Experience supporting safety reviews such as HAZOPs, HAZIDs, and LOPAs.
  • Strong organizational, forecasting, prioritization, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with project teams and senior leadership.
  • Strong QA/QC discipline with the ability to review, check, and sign off on engineering work.
  • Proficiency with standard EPCM engineering workflows, documentation, and project delivery systems.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. or P.L.Eng. in good standing with APEGA.
  • Senior-level process engineering experience within EPCM, energy, oil and gas, SAGD, thermal, heavy oil, or related industrial projects.
