Your New Company Our client is a global leader in real estate management, offering comprehensive solutions for all types of real estate assets. They own and operate some of the most distinguished and prominent properties in Toronto. They are looking for a Senior Law Clerk, Commercial Leasing (office/retail) to join their in-house legal team on a permanent, full-time basis and assist in handling their portfolio in eastern Canada.

The successful candidate will report to the Vice-President, Legal, and will have excellent academic qualifications and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in-office on a daily basis. Our client’s office is conveniently situated on the PATH in Downtown Toronto, within walking distance from Union Station, allowing for an easy commute.

Your New Role As a Senior Commercial Leasing Law Clerk, you will be integral to their legal team, focusing on:

Drafting, revising, and assisting in the negotiation of office/retail leases and related documents.

Providing legal support and performing lease administration functions.

Maintaining and updating lease document information in VTS (Electronic Lease Workflow).Interacting with internal clients, external legal counsel, and tenants.

Offering general administrative support to counsel and managers.

Instructing outside counsels regarding legal documentation and reviewing drafts for approval.

Participating in legal initiatives and special projects.

Handling tenant requests for lease transfers and drafting necessary consent documents.

Supervising junior legal assistants and aiding in document preparation.

Supporting leasing, property, and asset managers with lease document advice and drafting.

What You’ll Need to Succeed To excel in this role, you should possess:

A minimum of 8 years of related legal experience in commercial (office and retail) leasing.

Exceptional interpersonal and

communication skills

, both oral and written.

A keen eye for detail, sophisticated drafting skills, and strong negotiating and analytical abilities.

The capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and a self-motivated,

positive attitude

.

Team player qualities, able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
