- Pay Rate: C$55.00–C$60.00 / Hour (CAD)

This role as Senior Financial Analyst on the Commercial and Corporate Controllership team is accountable for the integrity of the financial and management information used for reporting and business analysis. The position is accountable for the data integrity of the ledger, investigate report discrepancies, oversee the completion of the month-end reconciliation process and support the team with ad-hoc requirements and project initiatives. In addition, as the team is responsible for closing the GL each month, the Senior Financial Analyst will contribute to the month-end activities including journal entries, financial analysis, and other accounting related activities as required.

Key Responsibilities
- Problem Solving – You persist to investigate and understand end to end processes beyond our team in order to identify gaps and recommend solutions that are optimal for the bank.
- Manage monthly and quarterly close processes — including critical review of journal entries and financial results. Provide proactive communication of variances/issues such to minimize surprises during the GL close process. Ensure accounting is completed timely and accurately.
- Communication skills – Good ability to prepare and present financial information effectively articulating issues/recommendations via your analysis and assessment of financial results and maintain a close working relationship with your business partners and Finance.
- Ensure Finance-owned SOX controls (including suspense accounts) are effective and performed on regular basis to identify/manage exposure to risks, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Operational excellence – Drive continuous improvements that strengthen controls and streamline operational processes that you own and contribute to.

Required Skills
- 5 years of relevant work experience with financial service institutions
- Proficient in Excel (formulas, VBA, Macros) and familiarity with AI tools
- Ability to investigate accounting issues and processes
- Attention to detail and comfortable with large volume of data
- Loan fee experience
- Month-end closing experience
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge in financial and management accounting, proficiency in accounting and desktop applications such as Oracle PeopleSoft & BI, Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel functionality for data management

Preferred Skills
- Understanding or experience with lending products, terms and conditions, interests, and fees
- Understanding or experience of General Ledger applications (SAP, Oracle)
- Current accreditation CPA or equivalent with strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards preferred
- ACBS knowledge

Education Requirements
- Accounting designation or equivalent would be desired
- Working towards or holding a professional accreditation in good standing (e.g., CPA, CFA)

- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with financial service institutions
- Hands-on experience with financial institutions (not purely theoretical or academic)
- Demonstrated experience with month-end closing processes
- Loan fee experience
