What’s the Opportunity?
As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in leading the Estimating team of the ONxpress Construction Joint Venture (CJV). This is an extraordinary opportunity to be at the forefront of one of Canada’s most monumental projects, where your proficiency and guidance will shape its success.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing expert guidance and fostering a
collaborative
environment.
Utilize your extensive experience in construction estimating across
diverse
scopes of work, including civil, structures, track, and stations.
Conduct a comprehensive review of drawings and tender documents to grasp the complete scope of work and submission requirements.
Demonstrate your expertise in design models and integrated digital delivery (IDD) software for precise project scope evaluation and quantity generation.
Develop meticulous bills of quantities (BOQ) by leveraging your experience and employing various advanced techniques, including Bluebeam.
Leverage your decade-long experience to establish material price lists (derived from BOQs), labor costs per manhour, equipment requirements, and assemble crews while accurately pricing BOQ items.
Utilize your extensive network and deep knowledge of the industry to obtain competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising on quality.
Thoroughly research historical data, such as purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis, benchmarking, and reports, to compile insightful summary reports and establish robust estimating guidelines for the project.
Maintain meticulous records of working documents as essential backup for estimating figures.
Provide valuable insights into the design process, leveraging your vast knowledge to ensure a seamless transition from planning to execution.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including project managers and executives, to deliver accurate and comprehensive estimates that align with project objectives.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
Over 10 years of
hands-on experience
as an estimator in the construction industry, with a
proven track record
of successfully estimating projects of significant scale and complexity. A solid educational foundation with a university degree or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
