Marsh McLennan’s Legal Team is seeking a Senior Counsel for our Toronto office.

What can you expect?

The Senior Counsel is responsible for providing strategic and tactical legal advice to Marsh McLennan’s Marsh and Mercer US businesses, advising on commercial contracting and associated matters, including being familiar with corporate, privacy and technology law and related fields. Working closely with the business and other members of the Legal Team, among other duties, the Senior Counsel will:

Review and negotiate client engagement letters, client service agreements, consulting agreements and statements of work (SOW)

Review Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and prepare responses in compliance with Company contractual requirements

Review and negotiate data privacy and security agreements

Communicate company and legal department policies and approval processes for contract changes to in-house clients

We will count on you to:

Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements with clients from all industry sectors

Advise on legal, regulatory, and business risks related to the Marsh & Mercer US business

Contribute to and reinforce the Marsh McLennan Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs (“LCPA”) Department’s Strategic Plan and initiatives that impact the LCPA organization

Demonstrate strong written and oral communications skills

Collaborate effectively with business, operations and legal and compliance colleagues

Promote an ethical culture where employees are encouraged to voice their concerns and opinions

Above all, exercise sound judgment

What you need to have:

At least 4 years’ experience at a law firm or in-house at a reputable company, with a focus on commercial contracting
