INTRODUCTION:
Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Guards posted to the reception desk must:
Have thorough knowledge of the college campus;
Know where all of the college’s services are located;
Perform their duties in emergencies, in particular:
Fires and evacuations, Bomb threats:
Evacuation, Search of the premises, Power outages, and Lockdowns;
Fully understand the different elevator operating modes: group, maintenance, fire service and emergency power;
Thoroughly know the routes for rounds;
Perform indoor and outdoor rounds as established by the college’s head of security;
Thoroughly understand how the fire alarm, CCTV and other systems work;
Always check the control desk systems at the start of their shift;
Report any alerts, emergencies, fire risks or other health and safety threat to the college’s head of security;
Record all incidents in the log, fill out the appropriate report form for any incidents and keep a record of communications received at the security centre during the shift;
Answer all phone calls for Security Services and pass on messages to the competent authority so that information is communicated and appropriate action taken;
Receive all security requests and take all necessary measures;
Apply the directive on smoking and direct smokers away from entrances to college buildings in compliance with city rules;
When asked, help move heavy items, unlock doors and provide clients with information;
Receive packages and pass on delivery slips to the staff in charge;
Perform daily, weekly and monthly checks of panic buttons, fire extinguishers, fire protection equipment, and the emergency response plan document and poster and send email reports to the college’s head of security in accordance with the college’s guidelines and federal, provincial and municipal regulations; and
Responsible for first-aid stations in accordance with regulation 1101.
Prolong standing and sitting may be required.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma
*MUST*Ontario Security Guard License
*MUST*Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
*MUST*have the ability to speak/read/communicate in English and French (fluently)
Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time
The ability to stand for long periods of time and complete patrols.
The ability to maintain a high level of service to the client.
