Full-Time (35 Hours Per Week) – 12 Month Position (1.0 FTE)
Start Date: Immediately; Duration: Permanent
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a two year community college office administration program plus a minimum of five years of related job experience, or equivalent;
- Strong abilities in a computerized environment utilizing word processing, spread sheets, student information system, accounting, desktop publishing, internet, and e-mail, as well as scanners and other office equipment;
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced office environment with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to function effectively with staff, students, parents, members of the public and others;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent telephone manners;
- Ability to deal with adolescents in a calm, compassionate and professional manner;
- Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information;
- Demonstrated competence of financial record keeping;
- Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate and monitor work assignments of other secretarial staff;
- Working knowledge of the Education Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as it relates to access to student information; and
- Knowledge of Board policies and procedures related to secondary schools.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide secretarial support to principal and vice-principal(s); including all correspondence, school examinations, minutes of meetings, Ministry reports, etc.;
- Responsible for coordinating and monitoring all secretarial jobs assigned to office staff to ensure deadlines are met while providing on-site training and assistance as required;
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the school budget;
- Maintenance of school bank account(s); Ministry reports, and staff attendance records;
- Order all office supplies and prepare tender order;
- Program and maintain the phone system, copiers and fax machine and provide training for all new staff on the use/procedures for office equipment;
- Type, copy and package student exams;
- Assist in the organization of school events; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board offers a Christ-centered education to over 13,000 students from Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk counties, the City of Brantford, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The district has approximately 2,100 full and part-time staff committed to supporting Belonging, Teaching and Learning, and Wellness for all. We currently have 28 elementary schools, 3 secondary schools and a multisite Alternative Education school, and 3 administrative offices.
