Job Summary

The primary objective of this position is to oversee the sales and marketing functions of the organization while maximizing, maintaining, and growing sales volumes and profit margins to meet both short-term and long-term strategic business objectives.

This is a senior leadership position with full responsibility for sales activities, gross profit performance, marketing results, business analysis, and strategic planning. The Director of Sales is one of two senior leaders reporting directly to the President, alongside the Chief Financial Officer.

Nature and Scope

The Director of Sales must balance strategic decision-making with entrepreneurial thinking. Due to the diverse product offerings, services, and customer base, sound business judgment is required daily.

Key requirements include:

  • Strong commercial knowledge across multiple industries and customer segments.
  • Well-developed negotiation skills and a thorough understanding of sales, marketing, procurement, and operational interfaces.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify opportunities, solve complex problems, and grow market share.
  • Development and implementation of processes and procedures that improve customer service, sales effectiveness, and profitability.
  • Recruitment, development, and coaching of sales personnel to ensure organizational depth, flexibility, and competency.
  • Maintaining effective customer coverage through clearly defined and evolving sales roles.

The Director of Sales acts as a problem solver and trusted advisor, making critical business decisions and participating in negotiations with customers, distributors, agents, and strategic partners. The role also promotes effective internal communication and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position works closely with Procurement, Production, Operations, Engineering, and Finance to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and overall business performance. The Director of Sales also leads efforts to provide market intelligence and customer insights that support product innovation and engineering development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the development and execution of the company's strategic plan.
  • Implement the company's sales and marketing strategy, leveraging automation and AI tools to improve efficiency and results.
  • Organize and allocate sales and marketing resources to ensure budget compliance and support growth objectives.
  • Monitor progress against objectives through regular reporting and maintain a flexible, solution-oriented approach.
  • Drive revenue growth and profitability through both existing product lines and expansion into new markets and industries.
  • Develop and execute market diversification strategies.
  • Adjust product mix and sales focus to achieve profit targets.
  • Lead and mentor the Sales & Marketing Team through regular coaching and performance management.
  • Maintain direct relationships with key accounts and oversee major quotations, proposals, and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and employee guidelines.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing changes, competitive activities, and customer demand shifts.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop annual and quarterly budgets.
  • Establish KPIs and compensation structures for Sales and Marketing personnel.
  • Prepare and present bi-weekly Sales & Marketing reports to the executive team, highlighting performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the President.

The Sales and Marketing team reports directly to the Director of Sales.

The Director of Sales will also work closely with:

  • Global Business Development partners
  • Marketing Content Manager
  • Sales & Marketing Support Specialist
  • International distributors and channel partners
  • Strategic sales representatives and agents

Compensation

Compensation package will be determined based on experience, industry knowledge, and demonstrated capabilities.

Incentive Plan

Performance-based incentive structure to be discussed.

Bonus eligibility will be tied to:

  • Achievement of individual KPIs
  • Achievement of company financial objectives

Key Performance Indicators (FY2027)

  • Achieve 20% growth within targeted strategic markets through market expertise and strategic partnerships.
  • Implement automation and AI-driven sales processes to improve efficiency and utilization of sales tools.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to develop and commercialize four new products for strategic industries through the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy, including:
  • Social media marketing
  • Email marketing
  • Search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Display advertising
  • Webinars
  • Virtual trade shows
  • Lead generation initiatives

The objective is to significantly expand online visibility, strengthen brand presence, and generate qualified sales opportunities.
