The Faculty of Social Work invites applications for a Research Website Coordinator. This Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This recurring part-time position reports to the PI in the Faculty of Social Work, Central and Northern Alberta Region, located in Edmonton. The position entails research project duties and liaison with members of the Faculty of Social Work. Job stressors are low to moderate and include deadlines and competing priorities. The Research Assistant will work Monday to Friday for 15 hours per week. The work environment requires the majority of time spent at a computer.


Summary of Key Responsibilities
(job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Exhibit characteristics of a professional and ethical research conduct
  • Participate in the core research team meetings; team members will include research assistants, academics, and external researchers. You will be expected to provide website updates, and contribute to discussions regarding the website, including seeking feedback from stakeholders about potential content and improvements. There will be multiple research teams of approximately 5-10 participants who will engage in this process
  • Manage and maintain a WordPress website, including both front-end design and back-end functionality
  • Monitor, update, and troubleshoot plugins (e.g., database management, tagging systems, and feature-related tools)
  • Regularly develop, add and update content such as newsletters, events, and other resources
  • Ensure website performance, security, and reliability through routine maintenance
  • Support ongoing website development, including implementing new features and improvements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback and effectively incorporate it into website updates
  • Identify opportunities to enhance user experience and site functionality
  • Troubleshoot any website issues that arise
  • Complete assigned and scheduled tasks under own initiative with limited direct supervision
  • Maintain detailed and organized project documentation (both electronic and physical files; includes storing and managing the files)
  • Respond to inquiries from Faculty members or research assistants who require assistance

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum computer engineering diploma or certificate in front-end web development
  • Prior experience working with WordPress, Moodle, Brevo, and Canva is required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in website development and maintenance is required
  • Experience working with HTML, CSS, Drupal, and JavaScript is required
  • Familiarity with website back-end processes, including databases and plugin management, is required
  • Strong communication skills, including writing website content and communicating with stakeholders, is required
  • Strong organizational skills are required
  • Experience with ZOOM and Microsoft Teams is required
  • Experience with Adobe and Microsoft Suites is required
