About The PositionThis is a temporary support staff bargaining unit position. This position will start as soon in April 2024 and end in April 2026 – working 35 hours per week at an hourly rate of $30.00, reporting to the Research and Innovation Operations Manager.
Working closely with Research Leads and Research Centre Coordinators, the incumbent is responsible for carrying out activities for various research projects focused on analytical testing and experimentation in collaboration with research lead, research students, industry partners and Applied Research and innovation Office staff.
The incumbent will have two sets of activities: a) Technical Duties and b) Administration Duties.
The incumbent’s technical responsibilities include design, installation, implementation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration, operation, and troubleshooting of analytical equipment, and measurement devices for the assigned research projects. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing purchasing documents, recording the project progress and equipment status and helping with research outreach in collaboration with Research Lead and Applied Research and Innovation Office.
Specific AccountabilitiesTechnical Duties
Support and assist with research activities including literature review, data analysis, and
experimentation in collaboration with researchers and industry partners in the area of water,
bio-process and materials.
Be directly involved with experiments and maintain accurate reports.
Support with laboratory analysis and design of experiments for research projects:
design,
implementation,
installation,
calibration
documentation.
Provide consultancy support to partners, industry representatives for development of new
projects
Help to prepare technical reports and presentation for research partners
Work with researchers to design and develop work plans and coordinate time lines for project
completion
Attend meetings with research teams and industry partners to update activities
Help the supervisor with coordination of research student’s activities
Help with selection, installation and implementation of various laboratory equipment and
installation.
