RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

Department / Research Program: Child Health and Human Development Program

We are seeking an individual to support a research program involving child health equity and pediatrics. The incumbent be involved in the co-design, recruitment, management, and implementation of various research studies and research training that require experiences with youth and community engagement, equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles, and child health.

General Duties

  • Coordinate and facilitate co-design sessions with youth, researchers, and community members
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of EDI activities for national research networks,
  • Recruit for and manage ongoing studies related to child health
  • Support the design of mixed-methods and community-based participatory research protocols
  • Assist in writing study protocols and manuscripts,
  • Manage the procedures with the Research Ethics Board and Contracts Office (e.g. protocol approvals, amendments and annual renewals),
  • Collaborate with national research teams,
  • Engage with diverse key players,
  • Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data,
  • Conduct literature reviews (including systematic reviews and meta-analysis),
  • Help oversee volunteers and trainees,
  • Assist in knowledge mobilization activities.

Education / Experience

Education: Master's Degree

Field of Study: Public health, epidemiology or another health-related area

Work Experience: 2 years of experience in health research

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of oral and written French is required.
  • An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English. The position also requires complex writing or in-depth analysis of documents in English related to a research project.
  • Previous experience in community-based participatory action and co-design research methods is essential,
  • Previous work experience in clinical research is essential,
  • Previous experience in quantitative and qualitative research is essential,
  • Previous experience working with Indigenous communities is essential,
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English (spoken and written) is essential,
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills,
  • Attention to detail and accuracy,
  • Ability to work independently and in a team,
  • Ability to multitask,
  • Previous experience with RI-MUHC is an asset,
  • Previous experience with working with multicultural communities is an asset,
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and qualitative software (Word, Excel, NVivo).

Additional information

Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)

Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm

Work Site: 5252 de Maisonneuve Blvd.

Other: Glen Site, 1001 Blvd. Décarie
