SUMMARY
The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals on research and development of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) capabilities in Ansys optics and photonics software products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs research and development on AI/ML algorithms applied to optics and photonics applications including prototype and production code development.
Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
Understands and employs best practices.
Performs bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
Works under the general supervision of a development manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years experience or MS.
Working experience
with AI/ML algorithms and toolkits.
Basic knowledge of optics and/or photonics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated success in applying AI/ML concepts in engineering or simulation calculations.
Working knowledge of one or more AI/ML toolkits such as PyTorch, Tensor Flow, Keras, JAX, etc.
Programming skills in Python or C++.
Excellent
communication
and interpersonal skills.
Ability to
learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
