Summary

The main function of the QA Analyst is to develop, implement, and document all testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle. The role ensures software quality through structured test planning, execution, defect tracking, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and maintain test plans, test scenarios, and test scripts based on business and technical requirements.
  • Execute manual (and, where applicable, automated) test plans, scenarios, and scripts.
  • Perform system testing of new features and system modifications (regression, integration, and user‑acceptance style testing).
  • Test the impact of changes on databases, application logic, usability, and overall system behavior.
  • Document software defects using a bug tracking or defect management system and report them to developers.
  • Identify, analyze, and document issues related to program functionality, output, online screens, or content.
  • Monitor defect resolution efforts, verify fixes, and track defect status to closure.
  • Create or maintain databases or repositories of known test defects and resolved issues.
  • Plan test schedules and testing strategies in alignment with project scope and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and product owners to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Provide recommendations to improve test coverage, efficiency, and overall testing quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance.
  • Hands‑on experience testing software applications (web, desktop, or enterprise systems).
  • Proven experience writing and maintaining test documentation, including Test Plans, test scripts, and test result reports.
  • Strong experience using defect/bug tracking tools and managing the defect lifecycle.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret test results and provide actionable recommendations to improve testing processes and quality.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and common testing types (functional, regression, integration, usability, etc.).
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills for identifying edge cases and subtle defects.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and in a remote team environment, often within tight deadlines.
