Quality assurance means more than testing.
It means you don’t allow the same bug to bite you twice.
What you’re passionate about
You are passionate about software quality and understand that meaningful testing starts with understanding business requirements. You ask questions, assess risk, and look beyond individual changes to understand downstream impacts across integrated systems. You enjoy learning complex business processes and systems so that issues don’t slip through unnoticed. You like building comprehensive and reusable sets of test conditions to confirm accuracy and readiness, and you want to be part of a team that enjoys continuous improvement, change, and the occasional round of trivia with other smart people.
A typical day for the Quality Assurance Analyst
- Planning – Much effort goes into planning QA activities for vendor-supplied and APS-developed software changes, including enhancements, configuration updates, integrations, and operational fixes.
- Perform skilled analysis of software changes, vendor release documentation, and new requests to assess completeness, clarity, testability, and risk.
- Identify test conditions, test cases, and appropriate test data based on acceptance criteria and risk. Create and execute test scripts and record results using standard QA tools and templates.
- Execute functional, regression, integration, configuration, and data validation testing to confirm changes perform as intended and do not negatively impact business processes or integrations.
- Log defects clinically, assess severity and potential business impact, support defect management, and collaborate consistently with vendors, delivery teams, and QA peers.
- Support retesting and validation of fixes, configuration changes, or data corrections until defined quality thresholds are met.
- Contribute to maintaining reusable QA assets, including regression test suites, scenarios, and test data, and support backlog maintenance.
- Participate in release readiness discussions by providing evidence-based input and clear documentation to support go/no-go recommendations within established QA governance.
