POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-orientated Purchasing agent to join our procurement team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, components and services. This position demands a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of supply chain and procurement processes.

PAY RANGE – $60,000 TO $75,000

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

In this position you will be reporting to the Director of Operations

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the:

Procurement Management: Source, negotiate, and procure materials, components and services in accordance with project requirements, ensuring compliance to specification and defence regulations.

Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering partnerships that ensure the reliability, quality and competitiveness of our supply base.

Contract Negotiation: Negotiate terms, conditions and pricing with suppliers to secure best possible agreements while mitigating risks and ensuring adherence to budget.

Supply Chain Optimisation: Continuously evaluate and improve the supply chain processes, identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements and risk mitigation.

Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing and availability of materials and components

Compliance: Ensuring all procurement activities comply with industry regulations, compliance to local and global company policies whilst maintaining accurate records and documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Quality Assurance and other internal and group teams to align procurement strategies with project goals and timelines.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring continuity and reliable supply

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY REQUIRED

Degree in business or equivalent work experience

BS/BA in Supply Chain Management or equivalent work experience

Experience in manufacturing purchasing and/or inventory management.

Ability to travel internationally

Holds a valid Driving Licence

Holds security clearance or the ability to obtain

TECHNICAL & SOFT SKILLS

Skills

Strong negotiation and contract management skills

Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities

Experience in procurement software, tools, MRP systems and Microsoft Office

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to work within a multi-national defence company with a multicultural, global customer base.

Has an understanding of drawing nomenclature and familiarity with engineering terminology and understanding of raw materials and manufacturing processes

Understanding of cross border supply chain and logistics

Ability to carry out supplier audits

Detail oriented and organised

Ability to drive results and self-motivated

Experience of working with an international supply chain

Understanding of the requirements of US Defence import/export restrictions (ITAR)

Understanding of Canada’s Controlled Goods Program
