Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager of the Youth Community Support Program (YCSP) within the Child and Adolescent Addiction and Mental Health and Psychiatry Program (CAAMHPP), the Psychologist I provides consultation to professionals and/or assessment for youth ages 13-17 years. The Youth Community Support Program is for youth identified as frequent users of tertiary service and focuses on providing a collaborative, transdisciplinary enhanced approach. This position will be located at a non-government organization but will work closely with other AHS programs and community providers. The Psychologist I acts primarily in a testing/assessment role. Competency in choosing and applying assessment methods based on the best available clinical psychological evidence, including but not limited to standardized measures of cognitive, adaptive, behavioural, and emotional functioning is required. Must be comfortable assessing potential for client risk and act to ensure safety of client, self and others. The ability to communicate clear, practical, evidence-based diagnoses, assessment findings, plans, and recommendations to the team, families and other service providers as appropriate is also necessary. Strong collaborative skills, an understanding of partnerships and connection with community partners and the ability to coordinate service delivery with other CAAMHPP services and staff is required. Psychologist I may also be involved in case conferences, therapeutic groups, staff meetings, professional development activities, student supervision, program planning, and liaise with other AHS and community partners, and assume other related duties as required. Intermediate to advanced computer skills is required. One Evenings a week may be occasionally needed to help support with psychoeducational groups.
Description:
As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in community mental health providing assessment and treatment with adolescents with a wide variety of mental health, developmental, learning and behavioral issues. Extensive training, knowledge, and application of cognitive, behavioural, adaptive and personality assessment tools required. Extensive experience providing assessment feedback to youth and families in a timely, client-centered, culturally sensitive and compassionate manner. An ability to also share this feedback succinctly to schools or other professionals for whom the information is useful. Competency in using the DSM V diagnoses. Experience and skills in crisis assessment, intervention and treatment including but not limited to Suicide Risk assessments across a variety of settings. Theoretical knowledge or experience with Trauma Informed Care and attachment-based perspectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience collaborating with partner agencies. Training and experience in individual, group and family therapy modalities an asset. Theoretical knowledge and application of Family Centered care principles.
