Reporting to the Administrative Coordinator, the Projects and Initiatives Assistant is responsible to coordinate existing and established projects/programs as well as provide assistance in the development and implementation of new or complex Indigenous specific projects in collaboration with civic departments, other levels of government and the Indigenous community at large within corporate priorities such as the Journey of Reconciliation, the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, Oshki Annishinabe Nigaaniwak and Welcoming Winnipeg.
The Projects and Initiatives Assistant will require working knowledge of Indigenous matters within Winnipeg, a demonstrated ability to network with Indigenous community organizations and leaders and an ability to demonstrate time management, problem solving, conflict resolution, communications skills and prioritizing multiple projects.
This position will provide support in the design, implementation, measurement and evaluation of Indigenous projects and initiatives. The Projects and Initiatives Assistant will utilize a project management approach to assigned Indigenous projects and initiatives and be responsible for monitoring project timelines, work plan progress and budget deviations. The Projects Assistant will also identify project challenges, research potential solutions and make recommendations to the Administrative Coordinator.
The Projects Assistant will provide guidance from an Indigenous perspective to assist in identifying and supporting the development of partnerships with other levels of government, engaging and retaining the participation of other civic departments and obtaining the buy-in and support of the Indigenous community at large to ensure that projects are meeting the needs and priorities of the Indigenous community. The Projects Assistant will coordinate inter-departmental working groups to support the successful implementation of projects and initiatives.
The Projects Assistant is responsible for assembling and submitting project data to inform overall project communications such as reports and presentations, including outcomes, outputs, successes, challenges and recommendations to ensure that required information is being communicated to key stakeholders involved in the various projects.
As the Projects and Initiatives Assistant,
your duties will include
:
- Complete project work plan templates, implement and evaluate approved Indigenous specific projects in collaboration with civic departments, other levels of government and the Indigenous community at large.
- Includes strategic planning support, recommending changes and enhancement of policies and processes to increase Indigenous access and to ensure successful project implementation.
- Develop and maintain key partnerships with community, other levels of government and key stakeholders.
- Identify and recommend performance metrics to track, monitor and evaluate projects.
- Participates and provides support in the maintenance of budgets
- Development and implementation of various reports and presentations that encompass project progress, outcomes and success stories.
