Start Rate (Non-negotiable): $49.68 per hour
The GO Expansion Northern Corridors Stouffville Line office is looking for a Project Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Manager, the Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and providing regular updates & reports on the day-to-day activities of the project, including the design and construction of assigned physical infrastructure projects, in a safe, timely, consistent and cost-effective manner.
The project work can include track expansion, signal upgrades, existing station building upgrades, civil works (new platforms, existing platform rehabilitation, and a pedestrian bridge), drainage works (including culverts and retaining walls), utility coordination, level crossing and switch upgrades, and testing and commissioning activities along the Stouffville corridor generally from Agincourt GO to Mount Joy GO, or, as assigned.
What Will I Be Doing?
Oversee the project work of consultants, to ensure compliance with Metrolinx’s Engineering Standards, Building Code and Site Plan Control Requirements and internal user group requirements through all project stages, such as the preparation of environmental assessment documents, design proposals and reports, accessibility reports, contract specifications and drawings, and construction administration.
Plan and report all capital project expenditures such as consultant fees and addenda, purchase orders, construction contracts, change orders and cost sharing agreements with public or private organizations.
Oversee engineering and architectural consultant services for infrastructure projects for new construction and alterations to existing fixed facilities.
Coordinate projects to minimize customer impacts, ensure all approvals are obtained, and that design and cost dispute resolution and completion within established budget and schedule restrictions are followed.
Coordinate engineering projects with external agencies including the Railways to ensure compliance with legislation, codes and the requirements of governing/regulatory authorities, including the incorporation of external agency work within GO Engineering Projects.
Prepare and submit tender document specifications for construction and consultant contracts for submission to the Procurement team for tendering. Assist Procurement team during tendering by providing information to contractors and consultants.
Ensure project completion and commissioning for handover to user group.
Prepare performance evaluation for consultants and contractors. Also, prepare project post evaluation reports including project cost analysis.
What Skills & Qualifications Do I Need?
A college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience providing a thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of engineering/architecture.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience related to the planning, design and construction of transit facilities, interpreting and applying contract plans and specifications and coordinating contracted engineering projects.
Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of civil engineering and architecture.
Detailed knowledge of project management including cost control, scheduling, codes, standards, specifications, corporate procedures…
