Full job description

We are seeking a responsible, skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of a Declaration Act Project Coordinator who will support and contribute to the implementation of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act Action Plan. This is a full-time term position ending in April of 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Implementation of the 89 action items as outlined in the Declaration Act Action Plan

Support commitments to align new and existing Provincial Legislation with the UN Declaration in accordance with Dakelh Laws.

Support the work and consultation with the Province of B.C. on other strategic, policy and legislative initiatives in accordance with Dakelh Laws.

Develop a comprehensive work plan and check in plan in accordance with funding requirements based on results from ongoing community engagement and Dakelh Laws.

Engage with Nak’azdli Whut’enne to support the alignment of Provincial Laws with the UN Declaration.

Develop workshops, courses and skills development that will support the alignment of Provincial Laws with the UN Declaration.

Develop a budget that aligns with the workplan and funding requirements.

Activities that support other strategic, policy, and legislative engagements that evolve from ongoing government-to-government work with the Province of B.C.

Develop brief written summaries of the Progress, activities and consultative work being done with the Province of B.C.

Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Degree in Business or equivalent training, experience, and knowledge

5+ years of working in the Business.

Effective interpersonal communication skills.

Knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook etc.

High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.

Sound analytical thinking, planning and prioritization skills.

Willing and able to travel regularly.

Possess a BC Class 5 driver’s license and drivers abstract.
