Compensation: $78,000 ($37.50 per hour) to $95,000 ($45.67 per hour), based on experience

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, plus overtime as required

Reports To: Technical Director

Job Summary

Inspire Sports Victoria seeks a Program Director and Head Coach, Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), to organize, direct, control, deliver, and evaluate the operations of its competitive MAG program, for sustained growth at the local, provincial, and national levels. Inspire Sports Victoria operates a high-performance MAG competitive program based on Vancouver Island.

The successful incumbent will play a key role in developing athletes into provincial, western, and national-level competitors; build a strong coaching culture and mentorship system; drive program growth, retention, and excellence; and represent Inspire Sports on the provincial and national stage. The successful incumbent is responsible for leading and organizing the MAG program structure, coordinating with technical leadership on training plans and seasonal strategy, and to mentor and develop MAG coaching staff.

What You’ll Do

Program Leadership

– Lead, manage, direct, and organize the MAG program structure

– Manage and oversee program planning, leadership meetings, operations

– Support competition planning and logistics

– Provide expertise and advice on program design, delivery

– Oversee athlete tracking, progress reporting, and communication

– Ensure consistency and excellence across all squads

– Develop, in collaboration with management, the program budget

– Oversee, recruit, supervise and coordinate MAG coaches, including the development of MAG coaches, within the program

Athlete Development and Performance

– Organize and administer MAG competitive programming, including specialized training, coaching, and athlete development

– Design, deploy, and deliver high-quality, structured MAG training sessions

– Guide athlete progression aligned with Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) structures

– Manage and supervise athlete and coach preparation and development for competitions

– Attend and lead regional, provincial, national events, with a view to professionalism and performance excellence

– Communicate and coordinate with external professionals (physiotherapists, doctors, and other similar professionals)

– Oversee and ensure a safe and well-maintained training environment for athletes, and report any concerns, maintenance issues, or injuries

– Promote the MAG program as appropriate

Other Duties

– Frequent travel is required for competitions

– Evening and weekend work, as required

– Attend all meetings, information, and planning sessions as required

– Collaborate with other management, team members as needed and as directed

Requirements

Certifications and Qualifications

– University or college diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, sports administration, recreation management, or similar

– National Coaches Certification Program (NCCP) Comp 3 Certified or higher in MAG

– Current CPR/First Aid, Respect in Sport, and SafeSport certifications (or willingness to obtain)

– Clear Police Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) required upon selection

Experience

– Five years of experience in MAG competitive coaching

– Three years of experience in recreation and sports administration or programming

– In-depth knowledge of gymnastics techniques, skill progressions, and competitive requirements/regulations

Skills

– Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and similar)

– Ability to focus on a digital display for long periods of time

– Excellent leadership, relationship building, and conflict management skills

– Superior verbal and written communication, organizational, multi-tasking, and scheduling skills

Pay: $78,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
