Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.
What you will do:
The successful candidate will teach and develop curriculum for Pathways programs including General Arts and Sciences. In addition to teaching and assessing student progress and achievement, the candidate will also develop culturally competent, responsive, and relevant curriculum, design or revise specific courses, work collaboratively with colleagues, and participate in committees, applied research projects, and other department-wide, Faculty-wide or college-wide initiatives. Teaching could be assigned at any Humber campus and in the online environment.
Qualifications What you bring to the role:
Education:
A graduate degree in a field or discipline related to Psychology.
Experience and Skills:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
Develop and teach courses that introduce students to foundational concepts,
critical thinking
skills, and academic strategies necessary for success in higher
education
.
Design curriculum that advances EDIB, promotes
interdisciplinary
perspectives, and fosters student engagement, active learning, and wellbeing.
Conduct research and stay current with best practices and emerging trends in
inclusive
curriculum development and
diversity
, equity, and
inclusion
in higher
education
.
Integrate pedagogical strategies to support first-year students as they navigate the transition to college life.
Participate in departmental and institutional initiatives aimed at enhancing the first-year experience and promoting student retention and success.
Engage in scholarly activities related to teaching and learning in the first-year experience.
Qualifications:
Previous postsecondary teaching experience in areas related to foundational, first-year and/or developmental courses.
