The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily trailer repair and service operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to company quality standards. This position manages shop workflow, technician productivity, quality control, parts coordination, and customer delivery commitments while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate all trailer repair and service work.
- Monitor shop capacity and balance workloads among technicians.
- Ensure repair orders move efficiently through the production process.
- Identify and remove bottlenecks that impact cycle time and productivity.
- Conduct daily production meetings and assign work priorities.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and shop equipment.
- Work closely with Parts department to ensure timely availability of parts and materials.
- Monitor technician efficiency, productivity, and shop performance metrics.
- Review labor hours versus estimates and identify improvement opportunities.
- Track cycle times, comeback repairs, and overall shop profitability.
- Support Service Advisors with repair scheduling and status updates.
- Ensure customer commitments and delivery dates are met whenever possible.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in heavy-duty trailer repair, fleet maintenance, collision repair, or related industry.
- Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of trailer systems, structural repairs, welding, and fabrication.
- Ability to read repair estimates, work orders, and technical documentation.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license
