Production Cook – Full-Time

Upward Mobility Kitchens is a social enterprise devoted to giving back to our community using food as a tool of connection to uplift, improve and nourish the people we serve. The Role: Production Cook.
A production cook’s primary function is to complete food preparation tasks in a timely fashion as instructed by the direct supervisor. This includes cooking tasks and general upkeep of the facility. We produce 1,500+ meals every day of the year that are dispersed to marginalized and vulnerable members of our community. Some experience is preferred but not required. Candidates will be trained to use all necessary equipment.

Location: Save On Meats (43 West Hastings St.)
Hours: 35-40 hours per week, depending on operational needs Rate: $20+ /hour, based on experience
Duties Include:

● Cooking at a high volume to excellent standards
● Completing food production tasks as directed
● Understanding the importance of mise en place, kitchen systems etc.
● Maintaining a clean work area and cleaning equipment as needed
● Communicating effectively with the rest of the team to ensure the successful coordination and execution of the program
● Working within the guidelines of food safety standards
● Fostering an inclusive and empathetic work environment
Requirements
● Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-production kitchen
● Ability to work 5 shifts per week
● Reliability and punctuality
● Ability to li and carry up to 25 pounds
● Ability to stand continuously through a full shift
● Enjoys teamwork and dynamic environment
● Ability to communicate in English

Our Hours:
● Production runs between 7am-3pm, 7 days a week – Including holidays and stats. Shifts will be scheduled between these hours but may vary depending on operational needs.
