Production Associate Jobs in Oskaloosa, IA at Iowa Wood Preservers
Production Associates work in our warehouses on their feet, handling lumber, tracking, writing, recording, banding and producing wood bulk units. You will be working with a crew at the pace of the machine to ensure efficiency and safety. Your job would involve operating a hand bander, transferring information, writing on lumber, communication, and potentially operating a control panel. You must be a responsible individual with a capacity to learn and work with others. This job is part of a small team with team production goals and team efficiency numbers. The end results will be to ensure the quality of material and products and help achieve maximum efficiency. The job is consistent Monday-Friday 7am-5pm, with a half-hour for lunch. Only applicants ready to work 8-10 hrs a day, 5 days a week need apply.
There is a pre-employment drug test to pass, that will be offered with the conditional job offer.
Responsibilities
- Learn and understand differentiate lumber dimensions, grades and treatment (expected skill = attention to detail, reading numbers)
- Transport raw materials to production workstations (expected skill = use of hands to move single boards on/off machines.)
- Log accurate tallies of incoming and outgoing material (expected skill = memory, counting, attention to detail)
- Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities
Skills / Credentials
- Valid driver’s license required
- Proven experience as a production operator is helpful
- Attention to detail and basic math skills for piece counts
- Familiarity with industrial equipment is helpful
- Flexibility to help in various areas
- High school diploma or equivalent
