The Work
You will deliver procurement and contracting outcomes for a large-scale mining capital project in northern British Columbia. You will lead pre-award and post-award activities including planning, market engagement, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, contract execution, order management, expediting of key deliverables, and handover to operations ensuring commercial standards, schedule alignment, and risk-balanced outcomes.
- Administer stage-gate commercial and procurement requirements across assigned work packages
- Develop fit-for-purpose procurement and contracting strategies aligned to project objectives
- Prepare and issue tender documentation; manage bid clarifications, evaluation, and recommendations to award
- Negotiate complex terms and conditions, execute contracts and purchase orders, and manage order administration
- Expedite key contractual deliverables (e.g., engineering submittals, delivery dates) to support project schedule
- Manage contract changes, amendments, and claims; review invoices and coordinate payments in line with contract terms
- Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure clarity of expectations and reliable delivery of goods and services
- Coordinate business readiness activities with commercial, project, and operations stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to add value, reduce cost, and mitigate commercial risk while supporting schedule and budget commitments
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or similar
- Extensive experience in sourcing, procurement, negotiations, contracting, category management, and supplier/stakeholder management
- Proven experience in the procurement and expediting of mining and construction equipment
- Experience working in capital project environments, with strong contract negotiation capability
- Familiarity with common contract models (unit rate, lump sum, cost-reimbursable, target price) and delivery models (direct hire, prime contractor, integrated owner teams; competitive bid and sole source)
- Proficiency with MS Office; SAP/Ariba and systems such as Aconex and contract management tools is advantageous
- Strong commercial judgement, analytical thinking, communication, and structured problem-solving
- Proven ability to influence and negotiate across multiple organizational levels; collaborative and adaptable working style
