Zurich Canada Technical Underwriting is looking for a Pricing Actuary to join our growing Commercial Business unit. Reporting to VP & Actuarial Director, you will support the pricing of new and renewal business as well as the development of effective premium / rating structures and strategies in support of business objectives. In this role, the Pricing Actuary will also directly support the transformation process of the Commercial lines’ ecosystem.
You will partner with key stakeholders from the business, including market facing underwriters and global pricing teams to support business objectives.
While the role will initially have a strong focus on Accident & Health (A&H) pricing, this position offers the opportunity to work broadly across Commercial lines and contribute to a wide range of pricing, portfolio management, and transformation initiatives. What you will do
• A high level of responsibility, ownership, and ability to influence strategic decisions. This is a great opportunity to work directly with the business and leadership teams.
• Contribute to a range of pricing and portfolio initiatives across Commercial lines, with opportunities to expand beyond A&H based on business priorities and individual strengths.
• In depth review of the pricing algorithm for all aspects of A&H and selected Commercial Lines, supported by global footprint and expertise.
• Set and communicate the pricing algorithm requirements for production systems.
• Monitor performance of the Commercial book (with a focus on A&H) and track accuracy and completeness of key performance indicators.
• Investment in upscaling pricing capabilities.

• Calculate profit margins on new and renewals of business.
• Coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analysis.
• Analyze loss and expense reserves.
• Provide consultation on actuarial models and risk issues.
• Support Market Facing and Technical Underwriters on pricing decisions.
• Ensure the implementation of required governance processes, maintaining compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Job Qualifications – What you bring to the table
Required:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics / Statistics / Actuarial Sciences or other technical degree
• ACAS or equivalent international certification
• 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or knowledge of statistical analysis software (such as SQL and R)
Preferred:
• Previous actuarial experience in Commercial lines of business and willingness to learn
• FCAS designation or equivalent international certification
