Policy Researcher (Canada Summer Jobs) Jobs in Langley at Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce

The Langley Chamber is Langley’s largest business association, representing and supporting over 1050 member businesses, and serving as a platform for collaboration and a voice for pro-business, pro-growth policies.

This role is responsible for supporting the Langley Chamber in its role as the advocate, voice and champion for local business through various research activities, policy initiatives, and other special projects. This position will assist with government policy and advocacy efforts by researching trends, data, and issues impacting local business, and help gather information and intelligence from our member businesses to support projects and initiatives of importance to the Chamber. A successful candidate will be someone with critical thinking skills, who understands current events and business issues, and is interested in engaging on various different files.

Reports to: CEO

Key Responsibilities

Supports the CEO and the Government Policy Committee with research, development, review and consideration of proposed policy recommendations and new government activities and announcements
Connects and engages with member businesses, as directed, to gather information, issues and concerns to feed into the Chamber’s policy efforts and other programming
Monitors media, social media and all levels of governments for news and issues of importance for the Langley Chamber and its members, and provides updates and insights for the CEO
Works with the Chamber and its committees to execute on other special projects as assigned
Attends and supports Langley Chamber events and community engagements
Represents positively the Langley Chamber, our brand, mission and community

Applicant Eligibility: This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs program and as such, position eligibility, length of employment, and weekly hours are set by this program. As per Government of Canada rules, to apply for this job, you must:

Be aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job
Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. International students and other temporary residents of Canada are not eligible.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 weeks

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
