Job Objective: Requires substantial interpersonal communication skills along with the ability to perform basic law enforcement functions. This position requires the Police Officer to perform duties in a proactive manner, which best represents the ideals and principals of the City of Goshen and the law enforcement profession. The Police Officer shall be responsible for overseeing all law enforcement functions of the City of Goshen.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIIES
- Lead through example by exhibiting ethical behavior and ensuring compliance with the expectations of the City of Goshen and all laws you are sworn to uphold.
- Performs, always, on behalf of the residents of Goshen.
- Attends public meetings when requested by the Chief of Police and functions as a representative of the City of Goshen
- Acts as liaison between the Goshen police department and the citizens of Goshen Arkansas.
- Prepares reports and completes all mandated reporting per statutes.
- Performs duties as required and assigned by the Chief of Police.
- Works collaboratively with fellow officers and maintains open communication with all city employees.
- Keeps the Chief of Police informed as to any needs of the department.
- Carries out the rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commission.
- Communicates effectively with the Mayor’s Office and other City departments.
- Attends continuing education training and anything else needed by or for the department.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc.. MUST be a POLICE OFFICER
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Ability to maintain accurate records, type and enter data accurately.
- Ability to effectively communicate on a one-to-one basis with others.
- Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public.
- Extensive knowledge of police procedures.
- Must know how to work within a given budget.

Pay: $53,000.00 – $63,000.00 per year
