WHAT EXACTLY DOES A PLUMBING INSPECTOR II DO?

Plumbing Inspector II is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and performing plumbing inspections to ensure compliance with applicable codes, plans, and public health standards. Does related work as required.

❖ Reviews plumbing plans and specifications of new construction to determine the type of installations to be performed and the location of sewer mains and lateral connections for plumbing contractors.

❖ Assigns inspection work schedules to subordinate Plumbing Inspectors by determining the urgency of the inspection based on the conditions and type of construction equipment utilized, the most convenient time to inspect business facilities operation and the amount of available personnel.

❖ Directs and reviews all work performed by Plumbing Inspectors I by developing schedules of inspections and holding periodic meetings with same to discuss work performed.

❖ Assists and instructs Plumbing Inspectors I in solving problems encountered during inspections.

❖ Completes inspection and reports in support of referrals for enforcement actions for Plumbing Control.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Promotion:

Two (2) years of permanent competitive class status in the title of Plumbing Inspector I.

Open Competitive:

Certification of Competency as a Journeyman Plumber issued by the Onondaga County Examining Board of Plumbers.

SPECIAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENT

Must initiate training to obtain certification as a New York State Code Enforcement Official within the first twelve (12) months of appointment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $78,578.00 – $86,815.00 per year
