As a Plant Maintainer 1, you will be responsible for skilled maintenance and repair work involving all of the mechanical building equipment for Calgary Transit. Primary duties include:

Review work orders; requisition parts, materials and supplies; complete paperwork as required.
Service makeup ait units (rooftop and overhead), exhaust fan units, overhead heaters, air conditioners, furnaces and other mechanical heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
Service low pressure boilers daily; clean tubes and sample boiler water for impurities annually.
Service overhead doors and controls, bus wash, and bus vacuum system.
Service bathroom fixtures (toilers, sinks, unclog drains)
Service compressor equipment (such as: air compressor units, air pressure lines).
Service and clean tube heaters.
Service and clean mechanical rooms.
Service sumps and drain lines.
Participate in health and safety meetings; ensure defective equipment is reported promptly.
Provide building access for contractors and/or consultants.

Qualifications
A 4th Class Power Engineer’s certificate of competency from the Alberta Boilers Safety Association.
Working knowledge of plumbing and gas fitting practices and procedures, warm air heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems.
A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending. Applicants with a Class 5 Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) may be considered.
Ability to pass the Calgary Transit proficiency operator’s test.
Previous experience in building maintenance, as well as technical courses related to plumbing, air conditioning and electrical equipment will be considered assets.
A demonstrated ability to work independently with blueprints and shop drawings; sound judgement in safety standards, strong communication, problem solving and time management skills.
Working Conditions: This position works inside and outdoors, under and on top of buildings, structures and equipment. Work may be performed overhead with the aid of an aerial device, or in confined spaces.

Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
