Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide complete and be responsible for the daily retrieval and storage of chemical compounds from inventory for weighing and packaging, particularly Controlled Substances. The Picking Associate will foster a working environment that is clean and tidy, fair, positive, and driven to continuously improve.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain a High Level of Safety

Understand and foresee and report possible safety issues.
Abide by health and safety guidelines prescribed by governing bodies and the TRC Environmental Health and Safety Committee.
Sustain 5S and general housekeeping of work area.
Promote a safe and hygienic working environment.
Work in a manner that does not jeopardize the safety of self or co-workers.

Manage Regular Inventory

Manage inventory decrements (weigh-outs), replenishment, stock rotation (may include receiving and put away).
Perform investigations of inventory discrepancies and report losses to FG Supervisors and Inventory team within the day of discovery.

Pick and Verify Orders

Ensure all substances are maintained in the correct environment (freezer, fridge, or ambient temperature) for the product.
Pick and deliver to Weighing Associates all substances as required by the Customers.
Ensure appropriate reporting is provided to Inventory team at required intervals, including inventory corrections or adjustments.
Cleaning and sanitation as required.
Communicate with Finished Goods Supervisor, and management to ensure that potentially compromised products are removed and placed in a secured quarantine area for assessment.
Perform all tasks within the scope of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to the job function.

Role Dimensions
Works with Customer Service, Quality, and Production to fulfill orders.
Works with other members of the Finished Goods and shipping teams on processing and fulfilling customer orders and internal requirements.
Works with Environment, Health &Safety team regarding environmental, health, and safety issues and policies.

Physical & Working Conditions/Hybrid Work
Spend varying amounts of time in walk-in freezers and fridge, where many chemicals are stored.
Working closely with chemical compounds including ones that are potentially toxic or classified as Dangerous Goods
Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while handling chemicals such as a respirator which requires fit testing. Clean shaving is required to be compliant with this PPR requirement.
Must be able to stand for a long period of time.
Must be available for:
A morning shift (6 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday), or
An afternoon shift (2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, Monday to Friday)
Shift may change to a different shift depending on business needs.
Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 25 kg/55 lbs.

Education Requirements

Minimum College diploma, background in Chemistry is an asset.

Competencies Required
Good planning & organizing skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Previously worked with a balance with good knowledge of measuring units
Good communication skills.
Excellent team player.
Self-starter, task oriented with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Independently solves problems within his/her scope.
