ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are seeking candidates who are compassionate, caring and who can understand the challenges our patients and their families face. As the ideal candidate you are a pharmacy assistant who is responsible for assisting the pharmacy team in the preparations of medications and supporting them with optimal patient care. Working within a busy pharmacy or clinical environment, you have excellent communication and time-management skills.

YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preparing prescriptions for sign off by a pharmacy technician or pharmacist according to pharmacy workflow and procedures:
Receiving written prescriptions and inputting them into the computer system.
Resolving third-party billing issues.
Measuring, mixing, packaging, and labelling drugs.
Pre-packaging medications (e.g., methadone, unit-dose medications).
Assist the dispensing pharmacist in the safe and effective delivery of medication, including:
Ensuring prescriptions are only provided to patients once the therapeutic check by a pharmacist has been performed
Communicating with clients and physicians as needed
Answering telephones and taking messages
Receiving and sending electronic or fax communications, and general filing
Data entry and billing of prescriptions using Kroll Pharmacy Software ensuring that required documentation is complete, including third-party billing restrictions, co-payment management, and coordination of benefits
Assist with the management and reconciliation of inventory
Other duties as assigned by the Designated Manager or dispensing pharmacist(s)

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

Completion of a Pharmacy Assistant College diploma and/or equivalent of a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
Experience using Kroll Pharmacy Software
Provision of a recent and acceptable Criminal Reference Check.
Proficiency in using Microsoft platform, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Demonstrated patient-centered pharmacy practice skills.
Demonstrated decision-making skills.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational, and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
