Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; report changes to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by nursing staff
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and infection control practices
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s personal assistive devices to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Observe and document patient conditions, behaviors, and progress to inform care plans and coordinate with healthcare teams
Skills
- Proven experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory care, autism spectrum disorder, and developmental disabilities care strategies
- Certified in CPR and First Aid; experience with HIPAA compliance is essential for maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts
- Strong communication skills for working effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Demonstrated compassion for working with individuals experiencing complex health conditions or disabilities
