Payroll Administrator Jobs in Berwick at CORE Support Services
Responsible to the Director of Financial Services & IT, the Payroll Administrator reconciles payroll records, completes, and maintains benefits and remittances, and ensures the implementation of payroll internal controls consistent with the mission, vision, and philosophy of CORE Support Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the development of payroll system internal controls which ensure the integrity of payroll and benefit information.
- Inputs/downloads pay records and processes payroll to ensure accurate and timely payroll.
- Completes and confirms the bank transmittal and reconciles account to the general ledger.
- Ensure the payroll/accounting standards are maintained by being knowledgeable of statutory regulations, payroll/accounting system upgrades, collective agreements, and other benefits requirements. Ensure all applicable changes are properly implemented.
- Maintains and prepares the employer benefits remittances for the organization and reconciles to the general ledger.
- Maintains accuracy and holds in confidence the payroll/accounting database and master file records.
- Performs the necessary system back-ups for data recovery.
- Completes and prepares the input files from payroll/accounting to the accounting software.
- Completes all annual payroll/accounting processes including T4 preparation, year end audit support, pension plan data file imports/reconciliations and others as required.
- Maintains and promotes good working relationships within the organization as a whole and with outside contacts.
- Liaise with Senior Leadership Team, Managers, Human Resources and Scheduling staff to provide support with collective agreement interpretation, related payroll changes for payroll processing.
- Support in administration of pension and benefits.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion post-secondary education with a focus in accounting, human resources or equivalent experience. Comprehensive knowledge of theory and practice in payroll functions in a computerized environment. Certificate and membership in National Payroll Institute, an asset. Minimum of five years’ experience processing an in-house payroll within a computerized environment. Experience in Benefit and Pension administration preferred.Experience with a unionized environment, effectively able to read and interpret collective agreements, administrative experience, ability to coordinate and collaborate with employees and co-staff. Effective time management skills. Demonstrates creativity and flexibility in approaching issues/concerns and implements best practices. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to be self-directed, self-motivated. MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Internet, Outlook, ACCPAC, Payroll Systems, Avanti Technology, is considered an asset.
