Full job description

Payroll Accounting Analyst includes analysis and maintenance of accounting information, reconciliation of discrepancies and consolidation of accounting data and reports as they relate to payroll.

Investigate, analyze, and prepare complex financial and business information in support of payroll activities. Compile information and prepare reports. Analyze trends affecting various financial activities. Recommend and implement measures to improve operations and services to customers. Partner with Payroll, Finance, and shared services to support business needs. Ideal candidate would have experience with both US and Canadian payroll accounting practices. Future scope of the role may require support of and/or providing direction to support Canadian payroll accounting activities.

Your Responsibilities:

Review/reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate reporting for payroll.

Submit journal entries.

Submit accruals for benefits not calculated in the payroll module.

Analyze, reclass, and true up by a journal entry of vacation.

Create new purchase orders for Payroll and Benefits each year.

Work independently to answer questions from other finance professionals.

Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.

Work with finance to design, establish, modify, verify and implement cost-effective programs to meet financial requirements.

Assist with reconciling tax and processing payroll when necessary.

Your Background:

Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or a related field or a combination of experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.

Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work in Canada.

3-5 years of accounting/payroll experience

Strong communication skills

Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information.

Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with little supervision.

Prior payroll experience in Canada and the US is a plus.
