Position Overview

Working as assigned with a

customer-centric

mindset, each position will be assigned to support various service delivery organizations (SDO) in implementing

patient safety

programs. Implement and advance a

patient safety

program and promote a culture of quality, safety and high-reliability to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and effectively serve the SDO though system safety reviews. Assist staff and physicians in understanding complex systems in which people work and collaborate to provide recommendations for healthcare system improvements.

Review

patient safety

events within the SDO using a variety of appropriate methods and approaches. Leads and participates in critical incident review committees (CIRC’s). Assist clinicians in addressing health service delivery improvements to support

patient safety

systemically. Participate in

patient safety

projects, initiatives and activities to support ongoing improvements to

patient safety

throughout the SDO. Experience 5 years of progressive experience in health service delivery involving quality and

patient safety

including: 2 years relevant health experience in quality,

patient safety

within the health services industry.

2 experience managing processes and projects.

Education

(Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Post-secondary degree in nursing, health sciences or social sciences from an accredited

education

institution. A certificate in quality management or

patient safety

is an asset. An equivalent combination of

education

and experience may be considered. Certification/Licensure/Registration Active member in good standing with an associated regulatory body as appropriate. Qualifications and Skills Demonstrated staff-level

leadership

capabilities.

The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the framework.

Physical Requirements

Must be

able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg. Interruptions to respond to questions are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled. Travel throughout the province requiring a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
