Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team in the Game Design Program. This program offers students a comprehensive set of practical and critical skills, as well as knowledge of game design and development. We are looking for part‑time professors to teach the following courses within Honours Bachelor of Game Design:

Courses

  • GAME
    27900 Level Design 1 – Foundations of Level Design
    (3 hours – 1 section)
  • GAME
    31208 – Game Practice 3:
    Gamification Project‑Design Research
    (4 hours – 1–2 sections)
  • GAME
    39275 – UX and Social Network
    (3 hours – 3–4 sections)
  • GAME
    31816 – Design Practice 4:
    Gamification Product – Production, Data, Analytics
    (4 hours – 1–2 sections)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver course curriculum in classroom and/or online, ensuring student awareness of course objectives, learning outcomes, and evaluation techniques.
  • Provide tutoring and academic counselling, evaluate student progress, and assume responsibility for overall assessment of students’ work within assigned courses. Faculty are expected to make themselves accessible to students outside of class via email or scheduled office hours.
  • Define, evaluate, and validate learning outcomes and design appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning. Faculty must complete all grading of assignments within the agreed‑upon timeframe and provide quality feedback.
  • Develop individualized instruction and multimedia presentations, incorporating technology into the learning process where applicable, and ensure that course materials deliver the learning objectives in the course outlines.
  • Attend periodic faculty meetings and respond to communication from the Program Coordinator, staff, and administration outside of class hours for planning purposes and course maintenance.

Requirements

  • All Positions
    • Master’s degree and/or equivalent relevant industry experience.
    • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post‑secondary level or equivalent industry training experience preferred.
    • Proven experience mentoring and facilitating teams, fostering collaboration, inclusive participation, and constructive critique.
    • Network of contacts with other professionals in the game industry.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.
  • GAME
    27900 Level Design 1
    • Minimum of 5 years related professional experience as a Game Level Designer or comparable.
    • Experience designing, developing, and shipping multiple levels for a variety of platforms.
    • Experience working with editors and engines in the development of game levels.
    • Understanding of level‑design principles of play and what goes into making good levels for a variety of genres.
  • GAME
    31208 – Game Practice 3 and GAME
    31816 – Design Practice 4
    • Minimum of 5 years related professional experience as a Game Producer or comparable.
    • Strong proficiency in evaluating game systems across multiple contexts, including serious, applied, or transformational games beyond entertainment.
    • Ability to produce and assess industry‑standard documentation such as project plans, design documents, workflows, and presentations that clearly defend design decisions.
    • Demonstrated ability to guide students through research‑informed, iterative game design processes, including problem framing, prototyping, testing, and refinement.

    39275 – UX and Social Network
    • Minimum of 5 years related professional experience as a UI/UX Developer, Community Manager or comparable.
    • Knowledge of game user‑experience design, including usability evaluation, player onboarding, accessibility, player psychology, and engagement design.
