Position Summary
The Residential Addiction Support Worker provides direct, person-centered support to individuals receiving residential addiction treatment. This role supports health, safety, dignity, and recovery-oriented care in alignment with CARF Behavioral Health Standards and Twelve Mile Policies. The residential addiction support worker is part of an interdisciplinary team that follows established policies, scope of practice, and ethical standards, contributing to a safe, structured, and accountable treatment environment.

Role Scope
- Deliver trauma-informed, person-centered support consistent with individualized service plans
- Promote resident safety, stability, and emotional regulation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to advocate for client needs and contribute to care planning
- Maintain continuous overnight supervision of the residence
- Conduct scheduled safety and wellness checks
- Monitor sleep patterns and nighttime distress
- Observe, document, and communicate changes in resident status
- Respond to overnight incidents and emergencies
- Apply crisis prevention and de-escalation strategies within role scope
- Provide emergency First Aid when required
- Support medication administration when trained and authorized
- Contribute to physical security of the residence overnight
- Maintain accurate, timely, and objective documentation and case notes
- Communicate effectively with on-call staff and incoming shifts
- Model professional conduct, boundaries, and ethical decision-making
- Participate in supervision, performance review, and ongoing training
- Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Qualifications and Competencies
- Diploma or degree in Addictions, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, First Responder field or
- Minimum two years of supervised experience in a related human services role
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Training in trauma-informed practice
- Suicide intervention training
- Non-violent crisis intervention training
- Minimum two years of continuous recovery where lived experience applies
- Valid and clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record if transporting residents
Hours of Work
Shifts may include:
- Overnight shifts: 9:30 PM to 8:30 AM
Initial scheduling will focus primarily on overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.
- 30-minute paid on-duty break for every five hours worked
- Employees must remain on site, awake, and available during shifts
Probation and Performance Management
- Three-month probationary period
- Formal performance review completed at the end of probationary period
- Ongoing performance reviews every six to twelve months
- Continued employment based on competency, conduct, and adherence to policies
Vacation and Holidays
- Vacation pay paid at 4 percent each pay period
- Employees may be required to work statutory holidays
- Holiday pay and premium pay provided in accordance with legislation
Orientation and Training Requirements
Employment is conditional upon:
- Completion of onboarding and orientation
- Completion of mandatory training
- Participation in ongoing education to maintain competency and compliance
Policy Compliance
- Employment is conditional on compliance with all Twelve Mile Recovery policies and procedures
- Employees are responsible for remaining informed of policy updates
- Failure to adhere to standards may result in corrective action
