Position Summary:
As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing excellent patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our eye clinic. We are looking for a dedicated person who wants to be an integral part of our team with opportunities to advance in their role in our practice. Your attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to multitask will contribute to making a difference in patients lives everyday and to the growth and success of our clinic.
Goals & Objectives of the Position:
Assist optometrist with patient care, including administering preliminary and diagnostic tests
Prepare examination rooms and equipment for patient visits
Assist with contact lens fittings and dry eye treatments
Assist with custom eyeglasses fittings
Educate patients on proper contact lens and eyewear care and maintenance
Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records and referrals
Handle billing and insurance claims
Order contact lenses, glasses and supplies
Essential Abilities, Behaviours & Motivators:
Outgoing, caring personality who enjoys helping the doctor see patients to help them look their best and see clearly
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with patients of all ages
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Ability to problem solve and prioritize based on urgency
Proficient computer skills is essential, including knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Retail sales experience is a plus
Front desk or customer service experience in a medical office setting is desirable
Knowledge of basic medical terminology and eye anatomy is beneficial

Salary: $20.00-$24.00 per hour – competitive pay based on experience
