The Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent is an independent and not-for profit charitable organization in Chatham, Ontario that provides supports and services for those affected by Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementias. For over 35 years, we have had a strong commitment to collaborating with our community partners and our mission: to improve the quality of life of people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias through education, outreach, effective programming, and research. Programming includes but is not limited to, 2 locations of Adult Day Programs, In-Home Respite, First Link Care Navigation and support, Education and Behavioural Supports Ontario

The Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent is currently recruiting a passionate and dedicated Office Coordinator (for Canada Summer Jobs) to work in our Office for 8 weeks. This candidate must be between the ages of 15 and 35.

The Office Coordinator’s responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities

· Professionally greet visitors who arrive at the Alzheimer Society office. These include people with dementia or their care partners, students, donors, board members, government officials and service providers. Answering queries about ASCK and sending information as needed to the public, care partners, etc.

· Keep track of visitors, staff, care partners, clients who visit the office.

· The Office Coordinator ensures that visitors are made to feel welcome when they arrive to wait for their appointment. Sensitivity training will be provided to ensure professionalism and adherence to boundaries.

· Triaging and directing telephone and email enquiries to the appropriate internal contact.

· Organize registrations for various education events/event planning, update waitlists and track attendance for our Education Manager.

· Receive payments including processing point of sale transactions.

· Assist Fund Development/Admin Coordinator with events.

· Assist the CEO and Program Staff with clerical functions, including booking appointments, faxing, shredding, photocopying, courier shipments.

· Maintaining an inventory of supplies to be purchased (given to the Executive Assistant/Office Manager (BSO) at least once per week).

· Participate in and take minutes for staff meetings/other meetings as needed.

Requirements

APPLICANTS MUST BE BETWEEN THE AGES OF 15 and 30

· Basic understanding of Microsoft Office 365, Word and Excel

· Recent Criminal background check

· Ability to manage a schedule at one or more locations (throughout Chatham-Kent) in a day

· Ability to understand and work with clients with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias and use resources to adjust to varying demands

Qualifications

· A passion and understanding that consistency is a critical component of care

· Demonstrated professional work ethic with internal and external contacts

· Demonstrated effectiveness working with minimal supervision, proven reliability and trustworthiness

· Excellent written and verbal skills for both receiving and providing information
