Prince George Prevention ANABIP Program

Junior Office Assistant

Program Summary:

The PREVENTION ANABIP PROGRAM is Canada funded that focuses on providing both practical and cultural interventions to support Wet’suwet’en families in need. The Prevention ANABIP team provides direct services to individual children, youth and families as well as facilitates community wellness activities and camps.Prevention ANABIP provides practical interventions (i.e., “meets clients where they are at”) with the purpose of leading to cultural interventions. Many children, youth and families in need are also the most culturally disconnected. The Prevention ANABIP work focuses on closing that gap so that children, youth and families can build resiliency by becoming culturally stronger. The Prevention ANABIP program provides intensive supports to children, youth and families involved and/or at risk of becoming involved with MCFD child protection to develop culturally-grounded solutions in order to manage risks, facilitating house group/Clan decision making processes, and providing trauma-informed opportunities for healing and wellness. The Prevention ANABIP Program is a practice application of the Wet’suwet’en Wellness Working Group, which has developed the Wet’suwet’en Holistic Wellness Conceptual Framework

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

By utilizing the Wet’suwet’en holistic wellness conceptual framework, the Prevention ANABIP Junior Office Assistant carries out the following duties and activities:

Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office

Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office

Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls

Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g. pens, forms and brochures)

Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email

Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries

Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook)

Maintain Equipment Logs (vehicle sign out, storage unit equipment inventory & sign out) & schedule vehicle/office equipment maintenance.

Create and maintain Boardroom schedule

Assist clients as needed with intake paperwork

Order front office supplies and keep inventory of stock

Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing

General Requirements:

Valid BC Driver’s license, reliable vehicle and Driver’s abstract

Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Record Check

Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Record Check

Demonstration of Wet’suwet’en cultural knowledge of the governance system, language, cultural protocols for caring for children/youth, and food harvesting experience.

The successful applicant must be an active participant in the Feast Hall and demonstrate a commitment to life-long cultural learning.

complete the required MCFD privacy training within a month of hiring
