We are looking for NIGHT SHIFT cooks!!

Monday-Friday 5pm – 4:30am, Saturdays based on business needs

Cooking and preparation of large batches of pastas, entrees, side dishes, desserts, and sauces, but includes proper preparation of all cooked items involved in A.S.K. production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Large batch cooking (up to 2500 pounds) of pastas and potatoes in large steam kettles.

· Prep work including opening and crushing cans, bags, and boxes of raw ingredients.

· This position requires the ability to efficiently and accurately read and follow established recipes and complete written documentation.

· Must work closely with QA to achieve and maintain high level of quality and integrity of finished product.

· Some overtime will be required as necessary due to covering vacations, absences, and seasonal fluctuations of production.

· Employee may be asked to work in another position if needed as determined by the shift supervisor.

· All work areas and equipment are to be kept clean and sanitary according to A.S.K. HACCP quality standards.

· Emptying cans over a rare earth magnet into tubs as per recipe, saving or disposing of liquids according to required procedure.

· Flattening, rinsing, and disposing of cans as per required procedure.

· Sanitizing equipment and table between different ingredients, keeping work area and floor rinsed, and disposing of juices and residue properly.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

· Various floor and table scales, air operated can openers, Steam Kettles, ½ ton overhead hoist, Product Dumper, various knives and other kitchen utensils, retort pressure cooker, and automatic filling machines.

· Air operated can openers.

Ability to understand, read, write and communicate using the English language, read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, etc., communicate verbally using simple sentences, write simple sentences.

Education and Experience:

· High School diploma required.

· Prior foods experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

The heaviest weight the employee lifts while standing in the same position is 60 lbs. The object being lifted is a bag, case or container of ingredients. The approximate number of times lifted each workday is 40. Task being performed is carrying bags, cases or container of raw ingredients to work area.

The heaviest weight the employee carries while walking from place to place is 50 lbs. The object being carried is raw ingredients. The approximate number of times carried each day is 20. Task being performed is carrying bags or container of raw ingredients to work area.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, an employee must be able to work in an environment having the following conditions:

• Cold temperatures – The temperature in the plant area is maintained within a range of 45 degrees to 100 degrees.
• Damp conditions – Due to constant sanitation, the environment is damp, and the floors are typically wet and slippery.
• Sanitation chemicals – Due to constant sanitation, approved food-grade sanitation chemicals are frequently present in the work environment.
• Food allergens – dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, shellfish, fish and tree nuts are used as ingredients in our products and are frequently present in the work environment.
• Production equipment and vehicles – Equipment with moving mechanical parts and/or sharp edges and cooking vessels that operate at very high temperatures are present in the work environment and proper safety precautions must be observed. Forklifts and hand trucks are used extensively to move ingredients and finished products to various locations throughout the work environment and proper safety precautions must be observed.
• Noise – Noise levels in the work environment are moderate.
• Sanitary safeguards – Proper clothing, shoes, hair restraints and other attire must be worn as required by government regulations and/or Company policy, and jewelry and nail polish are always strictly prohibited in production areas.
