Overview

New Restaurant Opener (NRO) Jobs in Reno, NV at Port of Subs

New Restaurant Opener (Yes, that’s actually the job)

  • Based in Reno, NV (but you’ll be everywhere)
  • $60,000 – $65,000 annually

Let’s be real for a second…

Opening a restaurant isn’t calm.
It’s not predictable.
And it’s definitely not something you learn from a manual alone.

It’s a mix of organized chaos, long days, problem-solving on the fly, and that moment when the doors open and everything clicks.

If that sounds like your kind of environment – you might’ve just found your role.

So… what do you actually do?

You’re the person who shows up before a restaurant opens…
and makes sure it actually works when it does.

You’ll be on-site (a lot), working directly with franchisees and their teams – training, coaching, fixing, and building confidence so they can run the business without you when you leave.

Here’s what that looks like in real life

You drop into a new store for 7–14 days at a time
Teaching everything from systems and processes to “how this actually works during a lunch rush.”

You train teams in real time
Not just presentations – hands-on, in the weeds, showing and reinforcing how to execute at a high level.

You adjust constantly
Every owner, every team, every opening is different – and you’ll flex your approach to match.

You build an exit plan (yes, really)
Your goal isn’t to stay – it’s to set the store up to succeed after you leave.

You follow up and hold the line
Tracking progress, reinforcing standards, and making sure the momentum doesn’t disappear once opening week ends.

What makes someone great at this

This role isn’t for everyone – and that’s kind of the point.

You’ll do well here if:

  • You’ve opened restaurants before (and know what can go wrong… and how to fix it fast)
  • You’re comfortable walking into a brand-new team and leading from day one
  • You can teach, coach, and hold people accountable – without losing the room
  • You don’t panic when plans change (because they will)
  • You like being in motion more than sitting still

What you’ll bring with you

  • 5+ years as a restaurant leader, training manager, or similar role
  • Strong operational knowledge (QSR experience is key)
  • Confidence training both small groups and full teams
  • Solid business and financial understanding
  • A valid driver’s license (you’ll need it)

Let’s talk reality (no surprises later)

  • You’ll travel ~80% of the time
  • You’ll work evenings, weekends, and holidays when openings demand it
  • You’ll be on your feet… a lot
  • This role is equal parts structure and unpredictability

Why this role stands out

You won’t just support operations – you’ll help build them from the ground up.

You’ll see immediate impact, work directly with franchise owners, and play a key role in how new locations succeed long-term.

And honestly… there’s something pretty great about walking into a brand-new restaurant and knowing you helped make it happen.
