. As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles.
The GO Expansion scope: new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more. Objective The Network Engineer will participate in Network and Telecom design team in designing, deploiying and validating network and telecom solutions. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential
Responsibilities
Multi-disciplinary environment working with the design, engineering, and the commissioning of integrated radio and TCP/IP networks. Solutions utilize licensed and unlicensed voice and data radios, LAN/WAN networks, and back office servers as well as other
communication
links between locomotives, between locomotives and wayside equipment, and/or between wayside and central office locations:
Knowledge of network hardware including servers, routers, and other computer devices Use system requirements to design and deploy networks and virtual solutions Develop testing, verification, and validation procedures as well as execute the procedures Strong
project management
and organizational skills. Create and maintain documentation including System Functional Specifications and Interface Control Documents Trace system requirements to DOORS Produce Verification & Validation (V&V) test plans under the supervision of Project V&V Leader Produce requirement based V&V procedures and datasheets Author Project V&V test reports Execute and lead V&V testing across multiple platforms Perform verification reports for requirements, design documents, test reports, etc Follow V&V technical processes in line with business objectives for technical and project
team environment
Document test results, identify problems and solutions, and communicate with Engineering Perform Communications Engineering tasks in support of program objectives Trace system requirements to DOORS Understanding of of system and subsystem-level requirements Develop & peer review test procedures and documentation to validate system requirements Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures Network troubleshooting Ensure Data
