Key Responsibilities

  • Document patient interactions as observed in accordance with ROHCG health care records practices and policies.
  • Assist in the daily work carried out in the home (patient counts, meal supervision, refreshments, and other such activities as directed by interdisciplinary team).
  • Monitor specified inventory and reorder as appropriate for the home.
  • Maintain environmental safety, including equipment maintenance inspections.
  • Transport patients, supplies, equipment, and mail as necessary.
  • Perform functions related to the tidiness and cleanliness of patient care areas.
  • Oversee and assist with patient cleaning and bedrooms as necessary.
  • Deliver requisitions, equipment, specimens, and other porter activities as required.
  • Communicate with the interdisciplinary team to order and reorder supplies.
  • Participate in evaluations for program planning and reporting.
  • Participate in specific assignments to meet the needs of a group of patients or one individual patient as directed by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Supervise the movement of patient(s) of the home/Unit.
  • As directed, carry out patient activities such as supervision and oversight of activities to promote social leisure and daily living skills.
  • Assess and report interactions among patients under direction of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Share responsibility with the team for total patient care and upkeep of a safe patient environment.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information.
  • Provide support to patients in tasks, meal supervision, monitoring, and report all patient movement, monitoring of patient supplies and equipment, supervising patients in the community as required.
  • Maintain infection control principles and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Participate as directed in discharge planning and implementation of plans with interdisciplinary team and community agencies.
  • Assist residents with necessary applications for the discharge process under the direction of the team.
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team and function well in a team‑oriented climate.
  • Communicate with community agencies and families as directed by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Work with the team to maintain the home and patient care areas neat and safe from hazards.
  • Adhere to the ROHCG policy and procedures.
  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti‑Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year post‑secondary diploma or certification in a health‑related field.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary clinical team and function well in a team‑oriented climate.
    • Perform clinical work functions that support the provision of patient and family focused care.
    • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
    • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check – vulnerable sector.
    • Possess a valid G driver’s license.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multi‑disciplinary treatment team.
    • Safety and Security in the Workplace Training (candidate must agree to complete prior to start date if this qualification is not met).

Language Requirements

  • English level A‑ is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.

Salary Range

28.87 to 30.81 per hour.
