Title: Mineral Processing Manager

Company: MRC Recruiting

Location: Toronto, Canada

Category:

Toronto, ON | Full-Time | Corporate Technical Team

About the Opportunity

Our client is a private mining firm with a hands‑on, technically driven approach to acquiring, developing, and operating mining assets. Their team works directly alongside site operations, engineering consultants, and corporate stakeholders, and they are active across both operating mines and major development projects in the United States.

They are currently looking for a Mineral Processing Manager to join the corporate technical team in Toronto. This role sits at the intersection of two distinct asset environments: an operating Cu/Mo flotation concentrator and a large‑scale gold heap leach project currently in engineering and procurement. It is a genuine opportunity to work across both operational improvement and project development, with a path into commissioning and operational readiness as the heap leach project advances.

What

You’ll Do Operational Metallurgical Support

You’ll provide technical support to an active flotation concentrator, helping drive plant performance, stability, and continuous improvement.

  • Analyze plant data including recovery, grade, throughput, and operating stability
  • Support debottlenecking studies and process optimization initiatives
  • Maintain performance tracking tools and KPIs
  • Evaluate circuit performance across grinding, flotation, thickening, and concentrate handling
  • Support reagent strategy and metallurgical testwork interpretation
  • Participate in site visits and technical plant reviews
  • Troubleshoot metallurgical and process‑related operational issues
  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations for operational improvement

Development Project Support

You’ll support the metallurgical and process scope of a gold heap leach project through engineering and procurement.

  • Review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor packages
  • Support metallurgical aspects of circuit design
  • Assist with process design validation and testwork interpretation
  • Evaluate equipment sizing and design criteria
  • Participate in technical discussions with engineering consultants and vendors
  • Identify and help mitigate metallurgical and process risks

Future involvement in commissioning planning and operational readiness is expected as the project advances.

Corporate Metallurgical Support

  • Prepare technical memoranda and metallurgical summaries
  • Support technical due diligence and internal project evaluations
  • Coordinate and review metallurgical testwork programs
  • Maintain and organize metallurgical datasets and process performance information

You’ll work closely with geology, mining, engineering, permitting, and finance teams on ore characterization, mine‑to‑mill coordination, process design, water management inputs, and asset evaluations.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering
  • 6 to 10+ years of experience in mineral processing or metallurgical operations
  • Hands‑on experience with flotation concentrators and/or gold heap leach operations
  • Strong analytical capability with plant performance data and metallurgical accounting
  • Familiarity with process plant design reviews and equipment specifications
  • Ability to work effectively across both operational and project environments
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel periodically to site locations in the United States

A Note on Fit

We understand no candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you!
