Job Title: Millwork Finishing Technician
Compensation: $23.00 – $28.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Position Summary: The Millwork Finishing Technician bridges the gap between basic production support and senior-level finishing. This role prefers prior experience in wood finishing and requires the operator to confidently run automated finishing equipment, apply water-based coatings, and ensure consistent quality.
Core Responsibilities:
- Equipment Operation: Set up, operate, and monitor automated flat line finishing equipment (e.g., Superfici lines) to maintain a steady production flow.
- Application: Apply water-based paints, stains, and sealers to custom millwork, ensuring consistent coverage, correct mil thickness, and adherence to production tickets.
- Advanced Prep & Quality Control: Perform high-level surface preparation, fine sanding, and defect correction. Inspect products as they exit the automated line to catch and correct finish flaws immediately.
- Changeovers & Maintenance: Execute efficient color and material changeovers. Perform daily cleaning and routine maintenance on sprayers, lines, and booth areas to prevent equipment downtime.
- Workflow Support: Work closely with the Department Lead to prioritize daily runs. Provide guidance to entry-level Line Operators and Prep-Production Support staff to ensure parts are fed and offloaded correctly.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly adhere to all safety protocols regarding equipment operation and chemical handling.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in millwork finishing, industrial painting, or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience operating automated finishing lines or industrial spray equipment.
- Familiarity with the application and behavior of water-based finishes and coatings.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle inconsistencies in color, sheen, and texture.
- Ability to work independently on standard production runs while escalating complex troubleshooting to the Senior Finisher or Lead.
- Reliable team player willing to assist with prep and line loading/unloading when production demands require it.
Pay: $23.00 – $28.00 per hour
