About

The Role

We are actively seeking 2 Mill Trainers who will be responsible for delivering, coordinating, and continuously improving mill operations training at Cote Gold. This role supports safe, compliant, and efficient mill operations by developing employee capability through classroom instruction, field-based coaching, practical assessments, and documented competency verification.

The Mill Trainer works closely with Mill Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and the Training team to support onboarding, employee progression, Ontario Mill Common Core and site‑specific requirements, and ongoing operational readiness. The position plays a key role in building a strong safety culture, closing training gaps, and ensuring employees have the knowledge, skill, and confidence to perform their work safely and effectively.

These roles are located at the Cote Gold Mine Site and report to the Training Supervisor on a day/night rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver mill operations training, including classroom, practical, control room, field-based, and site‑specific training.
  • Assess and verify employee competency through observation, practical evaluations, field follow-ups, and documented feedback.
  • Support employee progression through mill circuits and applicable Ontario Mill Common Core and site‑specific modules.
  • Mentor, coach, and support operators in safe, consistent, and efficient mill practices, including control room, field operations, process equipment, mobile equipment, and emergency response expectations as applicable.
  • Work with Mill Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Training Supervisors, trainers, and subject matter experts to identify priorities, close gaps, and ensure training supports operational needs and risk controls.
  • Develop, review, and update training materials, lesson plans, assessments, procedures, and practical sign‑off tools to align with current operating standards.
  • Maintain audit‑ready training records, reports, competency documentation, and certification data in accordance with legislative and company requirements.
  • Coordinate or support vendor and OEM training as required for mill equipment, process control systems, mobile equipment, and specialized operational needs.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying gaps in training programs, procedures, and operational practices, and contributing to practical solutions.
  • Promote safety leadership and operational excellence by participating in safety initiatives, investigations, and cross‑functional teamwork.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Ontario Mill Common Core and applicable specialty modules, or equivalent training and experience, is strongly preferred.
  • Registration or eligibility to become approved to deliver Ontario Common Core training is a strong asset.
  • Train‑the‑Trainer certification is a strong asset.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of mill operations, safe work procedures, competency‑based training, and practical assessment methods.
  • A thorough understanding of gold mill process plant operations, including field operations, control room practices, process equipment, and operational risk controls.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in mill or mineral processing operations, preferably in a gold processing environment.
