SUMMARY OF POSITION
Handle, control, and evaluate Consolidated’s water transmission and distribution backflow equipment and meter equipment, processes, and system information by monitoring, inspecting, documenting, and performing the routine operational and specialized technical work to function effectively and resolve meter activities of targeted complexity with latitude for independent judgment in moderately structured work
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive and control the operations, maintenance, and repair of backflow equipment, processes, and systems by planning, communicating, monitoring, and adjusting activities and performance to ensure effective operations.
- Receive and control the operations, maintenance, and repair of meter equipment, processes, and systems by planning, communicating, monitoring, and adjusting activities and performance to ensure effective operations.
- Use physical activities that require considerable use of your hands, arms, and legs and moving your whole body by handling, maneuvering, and positioning devices, tools, or direct physical action to control machines, equipment, and processes required to repair and maintain the transmission and distribution of water.
- Inspect and monitor operations and maintenance equipment, structures, and surroundings by examining information from all relevant sources to detect or assess issues, the quality of things, services and performance, make recommendations and corrections and solve problems.
- Monitor and evaluate data, systems, processes, and equipment by obtaining and reviewing information from reports, materials, people, and the environment to determine whether results, events, and processes abide by laws, regulations, and standards and report compliance.
- Represent the organization to associates, stockholders, the public, the government, and vendors by communicating respectfully and conveying a positive attitude with people inside and outside the company in person, by writing, or by telephone or e-mail to report information, updates, and share business-related news.
- Create and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation with colleagues by offering support, motivation, and encouragement to retain and work with the best people.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of water infrastructure transmission and distribution systems, meter equipment, and devices.
- Novice ability, knowledge, and practical application of receiving, interpreting, and delivering clear, effective communication to take responsibility for understanding others and ensure regular information exchange occurs based on the needs of the work, individual, and situation.
- Novice ability, knowledge, and experience in identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts by acquiring and evaluating data to interpret into meaningful patterns for informing, optimizing, correcting, and validating information and performance.
- Novice ability, knowledge, and experience of problem sensitivity, logic and reasoning, and good judgment and decision-making to materialize novel ideas and solutions to complex challenges, even in the face of ambiguity.
- Intermediate ability, knowledge, and practical application of psychomotor competency concepts, preparation, performance, and maintenance technique requirements to perform the physical demands of this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience in Water Utility Management.
- Possess a valid Colorado driver’s license and be insurable by the Company’s insurance provider.
- Possess a valid Colorado commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- Possess/Obtain American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA) Certification or American Society of Sanitary Engineers (ASSE) Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification within 1 year of hire; and maintain for the duration of employment.
- Possess/Obtain a Class 1 or 2 Water Distribution Operator Certification within 1 year of hire; and maintain for the duration of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Advanced physical activities are required every day, which include:
- considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as standing, walking, bending, stretching, twisting, reaching, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, and handling of materials.
- physical dexterity in the fingers, hands, and arms to use, handle, or move objects and interact with computers
- physical precision and steady, coordinated movement and equilibrium of the fingers, hands, arms, legs, and torso, especially when in an unstable position
- physical strength in exerting maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry materials and equipment up to 125 pounds.
- must wear common protective gear and safety equipment every day due to exposure to contaminants and hazards
- listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences; auditory focus; hear alarms and other indicators
- read and understand written information and ideas presented in writing; near vision, visual focus; and visual color detection
- convey information and ideas in oral and written expression so others will understand
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position works throughout the local service area including indoors, in an environmentally controlled setting and outdoors exposed to weather conditions. Frequent exposure to contaminants, hazardous conditions and equipment, and sounds or noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Regular overtime is required. Emergency on-call, and irregular hours (i.e., holidays, weekends, nights) required.
