Permanent About the Role

CASA’s Family Therapy Clinic helps families understand each other’s needs and find better ways to work together. The Family Therapy team uses evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, and works with families with complicated dynamics. The Mental Health Therapist will:

Work with the CASA team and external supports to provide high-quality family therapy to children, teens and families.

Assist caregivers caring for children with exceptional needs in building specialized parenting skills.

Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.

Conduct case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services and other professionals involved with the child and family.

Coordinate consultation with others therapists or external partners as appropriate.

Provide supervision or preceptorship for student placements.

Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.

Deliver care and learning from reflecting teams co-therapy.

Qualifications

Graduate degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy.

Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.

A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.

Knowledge and experience supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma.

Knowledge and experience in delivering family therapy-related modalities is an asset (e.g. emotion-focused family therapy, the Gottman Method, attachment-focused family therapy).

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and

communication skills

.

Conditions of Employment

A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.

A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.

Ability to

pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions. Closing Date:
